A Choral Programme for All Ages
The St. Peter's Community Children's Choir Programme began as a dream of the rector, James Adams, in 1987. His vision was to institute a choral programme open to all children in the community — striving for the highest standards and exposing young people to the great music of the Christian faith. Beginning with approximately 12 choristers, the programme has grown into four distinct choirs.
Our Four Choirs
- St. Nicholas Choir (Grades K–2) — A choir for beginners. Children learn to use their singing voices in a healthy and expressive manner.
- Junior Choir (Grades 3–6) — An ensemble in which children develop skills of singing and musical literacy. Repertoire expands to include two-part literature.
- Senior Choir (Grades 7–12) — Provides advanced training in all areas of musicianship. Repertoire expands to include more difficult selections for mixed voice parts.
- Adult Mixed Choir — Choral practice and performances for adults of all ages.
Performances
Each choir sings one Sunday per month at the Choral Eucharist service and participates in two annual Concert Series events. Every four years, the St. Peter's Community Tour Choir performs concerts in historic cathedrals in England.
