Saint Peter's is Looking for a Part-Time Bookkeeper
Location: St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 149 Genesee St., Geneva, NY
Position Type: Part-Time
Overview: St. Peter’s Episcopal Church is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Part-Time Bookkeeper to manage the church’s financial records and transactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping and a passion for supporting our church community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll for church staff and volunteers.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure timely deposits.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports for the church leadership.
- Manage budgets and track expenditures to ensure financial integrity.
- Support the annual audit process and prepare necessary documentation.
- Prepare annual Parochial Report
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Provide financial information and assistance to church committees as needed.
- Collaborate with the church administrator and other staff to ensure smooth financial operations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, preferably in a nonprofit or church setting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with church staff, members, and vendors.
- Understanding of nonprofit financial principles and practices is a plus.
- A commitment to the mission and values of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
Hours: This position is part-time, requiring approximately 7-12 hours per week with an understanding that peak times may require up to 20 hours per week. Flexible scheduling is available.
Salary: $20 to $25 per hour commensurate with experience.
